More than 60 million people globally have been displaced from their home countries and regions due to civil war, hunger, and poverty. Many are severely traumatized and physically harmed. In most areas, there is limited or no access to systematic mental healthcare or even primary care. One of the most critical regions worldwide is the Middle East.
We aim to conduct a needs assessment among refugees from Gaza currently living in Egypt. We plan to do a feasibility study exploring the use of online games as a tool in stabilization and coping with experienced loss and grief. Based on these outcomes, we also want to explore the possibility of other online resources like the design, programming, and implementation of an online youth mental health platform.
