WalkAlong.ca

WalkAlong.ca was developed in 2012 as community where young Canadians can explore their mental health amongst their peers. Our team believe wellness comes from empowerment and therefore developed WalkAlong to be a companion; someone to walk along with you during your journey to better mental health. WalkAlong is a Canadian-based mental health resource that also provides information and links to existing mental health care resources for friends and family members. Ongoing consultation with young Canadians and expert health care professionals guarantees the continued development of a cutting-edge, robust, comprehensive, and appropriate web resource.

Users can track their mental health using the Life Chart feature; hear stories and experiences of others; and read the latest news about mental health and related research. The platform has almost 2,500 registered users. Almost 60 per cent of all visitors to the site are Canadian, but there are a large number of users from the U.S., Brazil, U.K., Australia, China, and Germany.

Further, in the wake of the current COVID-19 pandemic and the opioid overdose crisis, we recognize the need for accessible mental health support for youth and adolescents. Our team is continually updating WalkAlong to provide information and resources to support youth during these unprecedented times. Check our our most recent posts about self-care during self-isolation, using drugs and alcohol during the pandemic, and vaccine FAQs here.

Funding for WalkAlong.ca was generously provided through Bell Canada’s Let’s Talk Initiative.
