TGIR (Traditional Gastrointestinal Remedy) Randomized Placebo-controlled Healthy Subject Study
This study is part of a program of research to investigate a novel approach to pain management and alleviating nausea and gastrointestinal distress. The study drug is based on a botanical formulation called TGIR (Traditional Gastrointestinal Remedy). Health Canada approved the importation and sale of TGIR as a natural health product in 2019. TGIR contains no drug substitutes and has no abuse liability.
This study is being conducted by Dr. Pouya Rezazadeh-Azar, Medical Manager of the VGH Complex Pain and Addiction Service (CPAS) and a pain physician at the Transitional Pain Clinic at VGH.
The purpose of this study is to examine the safety and tolerability of TGIR in addition to measuring the effects of TGIR on heat sensitivity in healthy subjects as a critical step to further clinical research.
